Overview

Thomas Menzies (Builders) Ltd was appointed by Fife Council to deliver the design and installation of new children’s play areas at two separate locations: Kinghorn and Lochore.

The goal was to create safe, engaging, and inclusive recreational spaces that promote outdoor activity and community wellbeing, in line with Fife Council’s initiative to enhance local amenities for families and children.

Scope of works

Our team carried out the full installation of play equipment and associated groundwork, including:

Installation of 11 play equipment units
Laying 334m² of rubber wetpour safety surfacing
Groundworks, preparation, and drainage
Fencing and boundary treatments
Site clearance and finishing works

All works were executed with minimal disruption to the local community and surrounding green spaces.

Project Delivery

Health & Safety: The project was delivered under CDM Regulations, with Wilkinson & Lowe acting as CDM Co-ordinator. A full site-specific Health and Safety Plan was implemented and reviewed regularly throughout the project.
Collaboration: Close liaison with Fife Council Property Services, with regular progress meetings to ensure alignment with client expectations.
Programme: Despite working across two geographically separate sites, the project was delivered on time and within the original six-week schedule.
Subcontractors: Specialist rubber surfacing works were carried out by an experienced subcontractor, coordinated seamlessly with our in-house team.
